Contra Mestre Paulo Batuta
 aulo Lima had his first real contact with Capoeira, in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1985. He trained with the group called Cordao de Ouro. In 1997, Paulo moved to San Diego. In 1999, given permission by Master Marcelo Pereira, Paulo joined the group Capoeira Mandinga, and founded Capoeira Mandinga of San Diego.
Paulo's group has been growing in number and strength since its birth, and has spread throughout San Diego county to reach adults and children alike. In the Fall of 2000, Paulo was the first to bring Capoeira to the university, at the University of California, San Diego in La Jolla. His Capoeira classes are also a part of the YMCA's "6 to 6" after school program for local middle schools.
In September of 2002, he started a new branch of Capoeira Mandinga in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2005 he Gave Instructor Caroco the permission to open Capoeira Mandinga Guam. |
